Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to Shufflr. We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about the information we handle. This policy explains what data Shufflr collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data. By using any Shufflr app or service you agree to the terms of this policy.

2. Platforms and data practices

Shufflr is available on multiple platforms. Data practices differ by platform:

• iOS & Android (native apps) — These apps operate entirely offline. No account is required. All data you enter (people, groups, constraints, cohorts) is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any server. We do not collect, receive, or process any personal information from these apps.
• Web app — The web version requires an account to save and load cohorts. See sections 3–7 for details on what is collected and how it is handled.

3. Information we collect (Web only)

When you create an account or use the Shufflr web app we may collect:

• Account information — your email address and, if you sign in via Google or Apple, the name and profile information returned by those providers.
• Cohort data — the names, groups, constraints, and assignment results you create and save. This data is stored in your account and is only accessible by you.
• Session data — standard HTTP session cookies used to keep you logged in. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.
• Server logs — standard web server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes.

4. How we use your information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Operate the Shufflr web app and provide access to your cohorts.
• Authenticate your identity when you sign in.
• Communicate with you if you contact us for support.
• Diagnose errors and maintain service stability.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.

5. Third-party services

The web app supports sign-in via Google and Apple. When you choose one of these options your browser communicates directly with the respective provider, which may collect information under its own privacy policy. We only receive the account identifier and email address returned by the provider.

The native iOS and Android apps do not integrate with any third-party service. There is no analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDK in the native apps.

6. Data storage and security

Web account and cohort data is stored on a server protected by industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. We retain your data for as long as your account exists. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us (see section 8).

7. Children's privacy

While Shufflr is designed to be used by teachers and facilitators to organise groups of people (which may include minors), the app itself is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child's data has been submitted to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, or if you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at:

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page. Continued use of Shufflr after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
